Double donation

What does the treatment consist of?

Double donation is a variety of egg donation treatment where, in addition to egg donation, sperm donation is required .

In these cases, the clinic selects an egg donor and a sperm donor, and the embryos are created in laboratories and then transferred to the recipient woman.

Anonymity and security

In Spain, egg donation is completely anonymous. This ensures that the identity of the donor and recipient remain confidential. However, in medical emergency situations, it is possible to locate the donor in order to carry out necessary tests or studies.

This approach not only protects the privacy of both parties, but also ensures that any critical medical needs can be addressed effectively.

What tests does the patient undergo?

Egg donors must undergo a series of very strict tests and trials to ensure the safety and effectiveness of assisted reproduction treatment. This selection process includes:

    • Basic health study : General analyses are performed to evaluate the general health status of the donor.
    • Serological tests : These tests are carried out to rule out the presence of infectious diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, among others.
    • Karyotype : The donor’s karyotype is analyzed to ensure that there are no chromosomal alterations.
    • Genetic study of recessive diseases : A genetic study is carried out to identify whether the donor is a carrier of recessive diseases that could be transmitted.
These tests ensure that only donors who meet the highest health standards are selected, thus offering greater peace of mind and security for both donor and recipient. This rigorous selection process is essential to maximise the chances of success and minimise any risks associated with the treatment.

How is the donor selected?

The donor is selected based on the characteristics of the patients. Physical characteristics such as height, weight, eye color, hair color, skin color, blood type and general appearance are taken into account. We carry out the selection before starting the treatment.
