Oocyte vitrification or fertility preservation is indicated in the following cases:

Women who wish to delay motherhood: From the age of 35, female fertility decreases significantly, and by the age of 40 it decreases drastically, making it difficult in many cases to conceive with one’s own eggs.
Cancer patients: Radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments can cause permanent sterility in women of childbearing age.
Premature ovarian failure: Caused by conditions such as endometriosis, autoimmune or collagen diseases.
Family history of early menopause.

What is oocyte vitrification?

Oocyte vitrification is an advanced fertility preservation technique that allows eggs to be frozen using an ultra-rapid process. This method prevents the formation of ice crystals, keeping the eggs in optimal condition for future use, with no time limit.

How is egg vitrification performed?

The procedure includes the following steps:

Preliminary study: A personalized analysis is performed to evaluate the ovarian reserve and the general health of the patient. The age and condition of the ovaries are determining factors in the chances of success.
Ovarian stimulation: Using hormones, egg production is stimulated.
Ovarian puncture: The eggs are extracted through a minimally invasive procedure via the vagina and under sedation.
Vitrification: The oocytes obtained are frozen using an ultra-rapid technique that guarantees their optimal conservation.

Once stored in liquid nitrogen, the eggs can be defrosted whenever the patient wishes to use them. To do this, they are fertilised with sperm from a partner or a sperm bank.
